September 20th officially marks the 30th anniversary of the release in the U.K.
of OZZY OSBOURNE'S solo debut, 'Blizzard Of Ozz'. We mark this monmentous occasion with our '30 Years Of Blizzard Of Ozz' radio special! We'll track the album start to finish, including the original recording of a bonus track recorded during these sessions, and hear from OZZY and others about their recollections of this important time in OZZY's career. Then, we'll play some select tracks from a summer of '81 performance on the 'Blizzard Of Ozz' tour in North America.

Highlights for OZZY OSBOURNE in the early 80's...







1980 - Ozzy, with the help from then-girlfriend SHARON ARDEN, forms the Blizzard Of Ozz band featuring former Quiet Riot guitarist Randy Rhoads, bassist Bob Daisley, and drummer Lee Kerslake. Head into the studio In March to begin recording his first solo album. Jet Records management decide to title the album 'Blizzard Of Ozz' and put it out under OZZY OSBOURNE. OZZY and the band play their very first live show together in Glaskow, Scotland on the 12th of September. The record is released in the U.K. on the 20th of the month.
1981 - Early in the yea, OZZY meets with CBS record executives. During the meeting he bit the head off a live dove to get their attention. In March the band entered the studio to record another record, They began the second leg of the 'Blizzard' tour on April 12th in Maryland. In July, 'Blizzard Of Ozz' was certified gold. In the first week of November 'Diary Of A Madman' was released.
1982 - On January 20th during a concert in Des Moines, OZZY bites the head off a live bat onstage. He thought it was fake. On February 19th, OZZY urinated on a monument across the street from the Alamo in San Antonio. He was banned form the city for a decade. On March 20th, guitarist Randy Rhoads dies in a plane mishap in Florida at the age of 25. On July 4th, Ozzy and Sharon were married in Hawaii. Not long after, 'Blizzard' goes platinum. NIGHT RANGER guitarist takes a leave of absence to replace Randy Rhoads on tour.
1983 - The record 7 Wishes was put out in May and reached number ten on the charts.
1984 - Big Life, their 4th studio album, was released in March but by previous Night Ranger standards was flop. NR contributes a song from this record, "The Secret Of My Succe$s" to the soundtrack for the movie by the same name, starring Michael J. Fox.
1984 - Alan Fitzgerald leaves, the band releases their last album, Man in Motion, which failed to go gold or spawn any Top 40 singles.
1986 - Night Ranger breaks up. Jack Blades joins the supergroup Damn Yankees, which also featured Ted Nugent and Tommy Shaw.
